Lake Nakuru National Park, located in the Great Rift Valley, is one of Kenya’s most beautiful and compact safari destinations. The park is world-renowned for its flamingos, which at times turn the lake’s surface into a sea of pink.
Beyond its birdlife (over 400 species), Nakuru is also a sanctuary for black and white rhinos, making it one of the best places in Kenya to spot these endangered species. Other wildlife includes lions, leopards, Rothschild’s giraffes, zebras, and buffaloes.
The park’s diverse landscapes – from acacia woodlands and waterfalls to rocky cliffs – make it a paradise for photographers.
Best time to visit is June–March, with flamingo concentrations peaking when water levels are low.
